Man shot and killed outside Virginia Beach home

25-year-old Hunter Scott Goode was shot early Wednesday morning outside the Pavilion Condominiums on Elizabeth Court, not far from the Convention Center.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) — A man was shot and killed following a possible overnight home invasion in Virginia Beach.

The shooting happened at Pavilion Condominiums on Elizabeth Court, not far from the Convention Center. Police dispatch said they first received a call of a home invasion just before 2 a.m. Arriving officers found a man who had been shot outside one of the condos.

The victim, 25-year-old Hunter Scott Goode, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told 13News Now that they heard about 10 gunshots around that time. The gunfire woke them up and prompted several of them to call police.

David Grover is one of those neighbors who lives in the Pavilion Condominiums and heard the gunshots, "I immediately went and checked to make sure my son was fine."

Grover, his son, and his pregnant wife live across the street from where Goode was found shot dead. He explained that this is a social and family friendly neighborhood. So, he knew his former neighbor and saw him several times, during the year.

"He goes to work the same way I do every day, like he comes home after work, goes back into his house," said Grover. "During this winter, I helped him get his car out."

Several neighbors we met told us Goode didn't live alone, they often saw dogs and another woman at the townhome.

Police officers haven't yet shared information about a suspect in this homicide investigation.

Police ask that anyone who may have information about this shooting to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text “V-B-TIP" and the information to CRIMES (274637).
