Norfolk man arrested for impersonating a police officer

The man claimed to be a law enforcement officer in narcotics.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Norfolk man was arrested and charged after pretending to be a police officer in Virginia Beach.

On July 15, officers were called for a trespassing case in the 1300 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard around 8:45 a.m.

The suspect was asked by a property owner to leave. However, the perpetrator claimed he was a law enforcement officer/ narcotics officer.

The man, who was later identified as 40-year-old Carnaey Chance Hathaway, was found by real police officers near the home.

Hathaway was charged with Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer.
