Late-night shooting at the Oceanfront leaves 3 people hurt

Two victims were found at the scene of the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue, while a third person arrived at the hospital.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Police now say three people total were injured in a late-night shooting in Virginia Beach.

The shooting happened just before midnight in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue, near the 17th Street Park area. Police were told that a large group of people had gathered in the area when shots were fired.

Officers arrived at the scene to find an adult man and a teenage boy both suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to local hospitals with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police later learned of a third victim -- an adult man -- arrived at a hospital himself with a gunshot wound. He is also expected to be OK.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and police have not named any suspects at this time.
