Two puppies from Virginia Beach SPCA in Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl

Two puppies from the Virginia Beach SPCA will be participating in the most anticipated game on Super Bowl Sunday, Animal Planet's "Puppy Bowl!"

Virginia Beach is being represented in Animal Planet's "Puppy Bowl" XV!

The 15th Annual Animal Planet "Puppy Bowl" game is airing on Super Bowl Sunday, and two puppies from the Virginia Beach SPCA are competing in the starting line up.

Only 36 puppies from across the country have been selected for the "Puppy Bowl" starting line up.

The two pups locally are Ace and Scooter! Both are a Chihuahua, Cocker Spaniel mix. Ace is 19-weeks old, and Scooter is 20-weeks.

All of the puppies participating in the puppy bowl had to be between 12 and 20 weeks at the time of filming.

Mike Lawson, the VBSPCA Communication and Marketing Manager, talked about how the process leading up to the event, from getting the invitation to submit to finding out if any pups were selected, is a whirlwind.

The event does highlight that even puppies are available at shelters, but they can go fast.

Ace and Scooter have both already been adopted by two families.

The Virginia Beach SPCA is hosting a tailgate party for anyone interested in watching the game! The event is on Sunday, February, 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Smartmouth Pilot House in Virginia Beach.

The tailgate is free, but donations will be accepted for the Virginia Beach SPCA will be accepted to help the shelter animals.
