VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Thousands of people are expected to visit the beach over the July 4th holiday.
So, local organizations have joined together to help clean it up once everyone leaves on Monday, July 8. They are also looking for volunteers!
Keep It Beachy Clean, City of Virginia Beach Waste Management Division, Keep Virginia Beach Beautiful, Chesapeake Bay Foundation—Hampton Roads Office and Lynnhaven River Now, teamed up to make sure Ocean Park/Baylake Pines area of Chesapeake Beach is clean once the beach is cleared.
Volunteers and organizers will meet at Froggie's on Shore Drive at 8 a.m. At Froggie's volunteers can sign in and pick up safety vests, gloves, and reusable trash bags. A safety briefing will be held at 8 am before the cleanup begins.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring sunscreen and water.
