Woman ejected from car, dies in Virginia Beach crash

Ty'metria Angena Smith of Portsmouth lost control of her 2003 Honda Accord and hit a guard rail. She died at the scene.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A 28-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her car in Virginia Beach Saturday morning.

Virginia State Police was called to a car crash around 2:11 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 264 near the Witchduck Road ramp, Sgt. Michelle Anaya said in a news release.

The driver — identified as Ty'metria Angena Smith of Portsmouth — was driving her 2003 Honda Accord when she lost control while changing lanes, Anaya said.

The Accord ran off the road and hit a guard rail. Smith was ejected from the car. She wasn't wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, police said.

Anaya said it is "unknown at this time if alcohol was a contributing factor."
