Elizabeth City car chase ends in crash

The Elizabeth City Police Department is still investigating a car chase that ended in a three-vehicle crash Thursday night.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WVEC) — Elizabeth City police are investigating a three-car crash at Halstead Boulevard and Hughes Boulevard.

Police got the call around 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office was involved in a car chase after the driver of a 2005 Buick failed to stop for lights and sirens.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jose Manuel Vazquez, ran the red light at the intersection and hit two other cars.

Vazquez is charged with Resist, Delay, Obstruct, Felony Flee/Elude, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Driving While Impaired, No Operator License, Failure to Stop at a Steady Red Light, and Reckless Driving.

He is being held at Albemarle District Jail on a $50,000 secured bond.

Pasquotank County EMS and Elizabeth City Fire Department also responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the other individuals involved in the crash.
