ELIZABETH CITY, NC (WVEC) - Four people were shot early Sunday morning in Elizabeth City as they were standing in line outside an American Legion hall.

According to a police department spokesperson, they became aware of this incident at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday when they were called to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center to investigate several people seeking medical treatment for gunshot wounds.

They said their investigation determined that the four victims were standing in line waiting to enter the American Legion hall on South Martin Street when they were shot.

None of the victims' injuries were believed to be life threatening, and involved wounds to legs, a shoulder and a foot.

Police said the victims’ names were being withheld "due to the current investigation." They also said identity of the suspect or suspects are unknown at this time.
