Owner of iconic OBX Christmas House passes away

If you didn't know Christmas was coming up, you would after seeing Jim Poulos' home in Kill Devil Hills. Sadly, family members say Jim passed away on Tuesday.

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — An Outer Banks man who for decades lit up the neighborhood with his extravagant Christmas lights displays has passed away.

Family members confirmed Jim Poulos' death on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Jim and his wife Ann would bring their Kill Devil Hills home to life every Christmas season with lights, inflatables, and seasonal messages. The tradition spanned four decades and would occasionally be featured on national television.

Ann passed away in 2018, but Poulos and his family continued the tradition that included a tribute to her.

"One thing she said was she wanted it to go on," Jim told 13News Now in 2018. "I said 'Honey, I'm going to stick it in the trailer and ship it to Georgia'. She said 'No! Get it done.'"

Jim and his children did just that in the following years.

"Heaven gained an angel today," one family friend wrote following Jim's passing.  "Please keep the Poulos Family in your prayers."
