LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in North Carolina have filed new charges against a man already accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend after the same woman was assaulted a second time.
News outlets report the Davidson County Sheriff's Office filed charges against 41-year-old Kent Douglas West, including felony assault by strangulation and felony second-degree kidnapping
A news release from the sheriff's office said West broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in Lexington and assaulted her, adding she was also held against her will inside her home.
The news release said Kent was awaiting trial for a previous assault on the same woman. His latest contact with her violated terms of his pretrial release, adding another charge.
West was jailed on a $5,000 bail for violating the release terms, but given no bail for the other charges.
