JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- One woman is dead following a crash that happened around 12:34 p.m. on Oct. 3 on I-64 westbound.

Police say Darlene Harris, 47, was driving at a high rate of speed when traffic slowed due to an accident.

Harris rear ended a 2010 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Gentry Zaugg.

That's when police say her 2004 Honda Odyssey ran off the roadway, struck a concrete abutment and overturned several times into the tree line.

Harris was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Zaugg and the two occupants of his vehicle were not injured.

Police say Harris was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident and alcohol was not a factor in the incident.

All westbound lanes were blocked due to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
