NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Crews from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation took a big new step toward the goal of getting 10 billion new oysters in the bay by 2025.
They planted 22 oyster reef balls in the Lafayette River on Thursday. Each one is two-feet across and weighs more than 100 pounds.
The hollow concrete balls will help bring back oyster reefs to the river, which eventually feeds into the Chesapeake Bay.
