95-year-old man killed in two-vehicle crash in Isle of Wight County

The truck's driver, Rufus Murry Wilson, of Wakefield, died at the scene of the wreck.

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. — A 95-year-old man died after his truck hit the side of a tractor-trailer in Windsor on Tuesday afternoon.

Virginia State Police responded to the wreck on Route 460, west of Route 646, spokesperson Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

State police said a 2017 International tractor-trailer was attempting to back up into a residential driveway on Route 460.

The tractor-trailer was blocking the road when the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling eastbound on the road, slammed into the side of the tractor-trailer.

The truck's driver, Rufus Murry Wilson, of Wakefield, died at the scene of the wreck.

Alcohol and speed were not contributing factors in the accident, Anaya said.

The case is under review by the Isle of Wight Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. No charges have been filed at this time, Anaya said.

Wilson's family has been notified.
