New Kent HS coach accused of fighting player convicted of misdemeanor simple assault charge

NEW KENT, Va. — A New Kent High School football coach was convicted on a charge of misdemeanor simple assault in juvenile court on Wednesday.

John William Fulks was arrested in December 2019 after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with one of the players on the football team.

Investigators said the incident happened in November 2019 and took place in a locker room before an away game. 

The victim was a juvenile member of the football team.

Fulks was sentenced to 90 days suspended time.

He has filed for an appeal, which will be heard in Circuit Court.

There is no date set yet.
