CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Authorities are asking for the public's help finding a 3-year-old girl with ties to Hampton Roads, who may have been kidnapped by her mother.
Chesapeake Police say a federal warrant is out for the arrest of 36-year-old Zeporah Sykes. Sykes lives in Cary, North Carolina, but she also has ties to California. Investigators believe she kidnapped her daughter Maia and may have gotten her a passport.
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Maia has been missing since April 12. Investigators believe Sykes violated a custody order to take the child.
Maia's father lives in Chesapeake, so anyone with any information is asked to call the Chesapeake Police Department at 757-382-6161.
