Dominion Energy says 99% of customers who lost power due to Hurricane Dorian have power restored

In North Carolina, crews are working nonstop Sunday to restore power to customers in Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks.

NORFOLK, Va. — Dominion Energy said 99% of customers who lost power due to Hurricane Dorian have their power restored.

Dominion Energy spokesperson Bonita Harris tweeted that in the last 24 hours crews have made repairs at more than 2,600 outage locations and restored service to 27,000 customers. 

Dominion said almost all customers in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia would have power restored by Sunday night.

In North Carolina, crews are working nonstop Sunday to restore power to customers in Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks, Harris tweeted.

She said more than 7,000 Dominion Energy employees are working on the large power restoration project.

Saturday's efforts

As of 5 a.m. Saturday, about 30,000 customers remain without power out of the 171,000 total customers impacted by Dorian. 

Daudani said of those, around 25,500 North Carolina and 4,500 Southeastern Virginia customers remain without service.

Dominion has about 16 bucket trucks out at the Manteo Causeway repairing broken poles in that specific area, according to Dominion spokesman Jonathan Costen. 

And that will increase to about 22 trucks dedicated to repairs at the Causeway.

In total, the company has nearly 200 buckets trucks out at the Outer Banks, Costen said.

Crews are working along the Knotts Island Causeway as they restore power to the area.

Dominion Energy says to always report an outage.

North Carolina and Virginia customers can report outages by online or calling 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357).
