WILLIAMSBURG, Va., (WVEC) -- A James City County shopping center was heavily damaged by fire Sunday night, Battalion Chief Alton Catlett said.

Crews from the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department and James City County Fire Department arrived around 9 p.m. to a report of a fire in the Colonial Town Plaza Shopping Center.

Crews found heavy fire coming from the Brass Shop and spreading to other stores, Catlett said.

He said several people were evacuated out of the buildings as flames broke through the roof.

The roof collapsed causing significant damage to several stores, including a dentist office and hair salon, Catlett said.

There were no injuries, and the James City County Fire Marshal is investigating.
