WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Award-winning actress and Class of '74 graduate Glenn Close will speak at the College of William & Mary's 2019 Commencement ceremony.

Close, who double-majored in theatre and anthropology and in 1989 received an honorary degree, will be awarded an honorary fellowship at this year's Commencement. According to the school, it's the highest honor that a college of Royal Charter can confer. She will be only the third such person to receive such an honor from the university.

Close is an acclaimed actress who has appeared on stage and screen in multiple award-winning roles. She's won three Emmy and Tony awards, a Golden Globe, and holds the record as the most Oscar-nominated living actress who hasn't won (seven nominations, including this year's Best Actress nomination for The Wife).

William & Mary President Katherine A. Rowe will preside over her first Commencement at the university. The ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11 in Zable Stadium.
