WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WVEC) -- The city of Williamsburg held a swearing-in ceremony and organizational meeting for it's new mayor and vice mayor as well as a couple of new, incoming council members.
The Oath of Office was administered to re-elected Councilman Paul T. Freiling and incoming council members Barbara Ramsey and Benming Zhang.
Zhang is believed to be the first Asian-American to ever hold a city council seat in Williamsburg.
A City Council organizational meeting immediately followed the ceremony, at which time the Council elected Freiling as Mayor and D. Scott Foster as Vice Mayor.
Paul Freiling has been a member of the city council for 12 years and vice mayor for the past six. He has served on several city boards and currently serves as City Council representative on the Economic Development Authority.
Foster has been a Williamsburg council member for six years and was the first college student ever elected to office. He graduated from the College of William and Mary just days after he was sworn in.
