Winning Virginia Lottery tickets about to expire

A winning $100,000 ticket sold in Virginia Beach and a winning $50,000 ticket sold in the Eastern Shore are about to expire!

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Take another look at those old lotto tickets! The Virginia Lottery says three winning tickets sold earlier this year are about to expire.

By law, winning tickets in Virginia expire 180 days after the drawing. The Virginia Lottery is putting one last call out for the winners to come forward before their tickets expire on Monday, July 2.

One ticket was sold in Virginia Beach, another in Onley on the Eastern Shore, and the third was sold in Charlottesville. Here is the winning ticket information:

$100,000 winning ticket:

  • Purchased for: January 1 Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle drawing
  • Ticket bought at: 7-Eleven, 3908 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach
  • Ticket number: 028288
  • Expires: 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 2 – the winner in this case actually gets 182 days to claim because the 180th day is a Saturday, so he or she gets until close of business on the next business day.


$50,000 winning ticket:

  • Purchased for: January 3 Powerball drawing
  • Ticket bought at: Royal Farms, 25220 Lankford Highway, Onley (Eastern Shore)
  • Expires: 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 2
  • Winning numbers: 2-18-37-39-42, Powerball number 12 – this ticket matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number


$100,000 winning ticket:

  • Purchased for: January 1 Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle drawing
  • Ticket bought at: Kroger, 1980 Rio Hill Center, Charlottesville
  • Ticket number: 090869
  • Expires: 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 2 – the winner in this case actually gets 182 days to claim because the 180th day is a Saturday, so he or she gets until close of business on the next business day.

If you have one of these winning tickets, you should contact the Virginia Lottery immediately.

If the tickets go unclaimed, the winnings will got to Virginia's Literary Fund, which is used solely for educational purposes such as upgrading technology in schools and teacher retirement funding.
