USS Boise (SSN 764) arrives at Newport News Shipbuilding to begin scheduled overhaul work.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- One of the Navy's nuclear-powered submarines is getting overhauled.

The Los Angeles-Class USS Boise (SSN 764) has been transported to Newport News Shipbuilding. Workers with Huntington Ingalls Industries will do system upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and repair on the sub.

We're told the Boise will be pierside until it is moved to a dry dock in January.

The work is scheduled to take more than two years.

USS Boise was built at Newport News Shipbuilding and entered the fleet in September of 1992. It is homeported in Norfolk.
