A search of a U.S. Navy ship after a bomb threat was made turned up nothing dangerous Tuesday afternoon.

The Norfolk Police Department said the threat against USS Monterey (CG-61) was made around 12:40 p.m. The ship was docked at Marine Hydraulics International, located at 1215 Warrington Avenue.

Norfolk police officers and fire marshals searched the ship. By 4 p.m., teams completed security sweeps and inspections. They didn't find anything suspicious.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) will look into the threat.

Naval Surface Force Atlantic Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson released a statement about the incident:

“The USS Monterey (CG 61) received a bomb threat today (February 12), at approximately 11:30 am, while pierside at a local Norfolk shipyard.  Immediate measures were taken, shipyard and local law enforcement were notified.  Security sweeps and extensive inspections are ongoing.  NCIS is involved.  Not able to discuss specifics.”
