NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The U.S. Navy will try out a crowdsourcing app for preventing sexual assaults and other destructive behaviors.
The LiveSafe app allows sailors to anonymously report suspicious or criminal activity. It also allows people to share their location if they're walking home alone, among other things.
The app will be tested during a six-month pilot program. It will be used at bases in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia as we well as in Rota, Spain. If successful, the app could be used at Navy installations around the world.
The app can be downloaded in both the iTunes and the Google App stores.
