Joey Vanoni, owner of Pizza di Joey, wanted to do something to help the people of Ellicott City. So, he decided to use his brick oven food truck to do just that.

On Wednesday, Joey and his teamed pulled up to St. Peter's Episcopal Church to serve free pizza. Nearly 100 people were fed.

"You could see the stress and their situation, and so the least I could do was serve up some pizza," Vanoni said. "I hope we brought a few smiles to a few faces."

Vanoni is a Navy veteran. He used to make and serve pizza to service members overseas hoping to give them a little taste of home. He also wanted to boost morale. He applied that idea to Ellicott City.

"They're in a bad situation right now, so if we could come out and serve a little bit of food, help them out a bit, that's the least we can do," Vanoni said.

Joey and his team generally operate out of the Baltimore city area. He plans to come back and give out free pizza in the coming weeks.

The schedule of where his truck will be is on the food truck's website.
