New breakthrough in ADHD research

Researchers are examining the genetics involved with Attention Deficit Disorder

Most people already know the basics when it comes to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.

It typically involves hyper, impulsive behavior along with an inability to stay focused for long periods of time.

We also know it’s not caused by bad parenting or too much sugar or video games.

It’s a brain-based disorder, and one out of every ten children is diagnosed with ADHD.

But pinpointing exactly where it starts, and where it exists in our brains, hasn’t been easy for scientists.

However, a new study from a group of researchers from all over the world reveals a breakthrough in ADHD research.

For the first time, researchers have found twelve gene regions in the brain they linked to ADHD.

And even though current medication to treat the order is effective, researchers found it doesn’t target any of these twelve genes now linked to ADHD.
