Newport News police: Man injured in drive-by shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police are investigating a drive-by shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

Newport News police responded to a call for a shooting in the area of 9th Stree and Ivy Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Thursday.

When officers arrived they found a 26-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim told police he was walking when a dark-colored sedan drove by and someone inside started shooting.

This is an active investigation. There is no further information.
