NAGS HEAD, N.C. — Investigators are still working to determine what exactly caused a fire that gutted a popular Outer Banks Christmas store last month.
On April 12, the Christmas Mouse store in Nags Head caught fire, with the flames quickly spreading across much of the building.
Investigators now believe the fire began outside, in an area used to store cardboard boxes.
What exactly set off the fire remains unclear, but fire investigators tell 13News Now that foul play is not suspected.
The 8,000 square foot, nine room store had been a staple in Nags Head since 1987. The owners have said they plan to rebuild the store.
