Norfolk firefighters battle overnight duplex fire

Fire investigators in Norfolk are working to learn the cause of an early morning duplex fire in Wards Corner.

NORFOLK, Va. — Two people are displaced after an early morning duplex fire in Norfolk.

The fire was reported at 2:25 a.m. Thursday at 528 Virginian Drive in Wards Corner.

Battalion Chief Gary Windley said the apartment where the fire originated was unoccupied; however, two adults were displaced from the adjacent apartment.

No one was injured and firefighters had the two-story duplex fire under control by 3:06 a.m.

Windley said one apartment has heavy fire damage and the other has smoke damage.

Fire investigators will visit the scene later today to determine a cause.
