Norfolk Police REALLY want residents to lock their car doors

In a push to reduce car theft, Norfolk Police Department tweets out creative reminders for residents to lock their car doors at night.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- In a push to reduce car theft, Norfolk Police Department tweets out creative reminders for residents to lock their car doors at night.

From January 1, 2018, to May 17, 2018, there have been over 300 reports of motor vehicle thefts. In the same amount of time, there were over 1,000 vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Norfolk Police Department's recent slogan, "Together we can reduce car thefts." The department has also been reminding people not to leave their cars running unattended. It makes vehicles an easier target.

Here are a few innovated ways the Police department has promoted locking car doors:

So, Norfolk residents, please lock your car doors and don't leave your can running unattended!
