NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Norfolk's first cat cafe is about to celebrate one year and a lot of cat adoptions.

The Catnip Cat Cafe on Colonial Avenue first opened its doors for a "soft" opening on June 3, before fully opening on June 10, 2017.

Guests can sip on coffee as they can play, pet, and hang out with the felines. If anyone feels a special bond, they can adopt. The cafe allows local shelter cats to roam the 2,000 square foot facility 24/7.

On Thursday, the cafe announced that 121 cats were adopted in the first year of business. They found their fur-ever home!

At any time, the cafe can have up to 20 adult cats in the building. Their motto? “Adopt, don’t shop!”

It's highly recommended for guests to make a reservation, but not required. A general one-hour reservation per person is $10, but the cafe offers lots of deals for students, families, and even people who want to spend the day.

Congratulations to a successful 1st year, Catnip Cat Cafe!
