Northam signs off on new apprenticeship program at TCC

Governor Northam signed a bill that creates new online and classroom opportunities for apprentices at all Virginia community colleges.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Governor Ralph Northam was at Tidewater Community College's Portsmouth campus Wednesday morning, where he officially signed a bill that creates a new partnership with the school.

It's specifically for apprenticeship programs, which creates new online and classroom opportunities for apprentices at all Virginia community colleges.

"I hear from companies every day. They say, 'Ralph, if you help us train our workforce, our businesses will thrive in Virginia,'" the governor said. "So it's identifying what those jobs are and then working with our colleges, working with our community colleges and also, I might add, working with our high schools."

During his visit, Governor Northam also had a chance to tour TCC's Skilled Trades Academy.
