John Rowe defeats Portsmouth Mayor Kenny Wright; Sessom wins Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- For many people going to the polls in Hampton Roads, they'll not just be deciding who will be the next president of the United States.  They'll also be casting their ballot for their city's next mayor.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- For many people going to the polls in Hampton Roads, they'll not just be deciding who will be the next president of the United States. They'll also be casting their ballot for their city's next mayor.

Portsmouth has seen an upset, as Mayor Kenny Wright lost to former city manager John Rowe. Businessman Shannon Glover is in third.

Not all votes have been counted, but Wright admitted he was far behind in the tally.

In Suffolk, Mayor Linda Johnson won re-election against four challengers.

And over in in Virginia Beach, Mayor Will Sessoms claimed victory over three challengers. During his victory speech, Sessoms called it the "toughest and nastiest" campaign of his career.

Mayoral races are non-partisan.
