Local elections in Hampton Roads, on Eastern Shore

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday for elections in several cities and towns in the area.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) – Polls closed after several cities and towns in Hampton Roads and on the Eastern Shore held local elections on Tuesday.

Hampton and Norfolk had city council and school board seats up for grabs.

Newport News and Chesapeake also had elections for council and school board, as well as for mayor.

In Newport News, it was a four-way contest for mayor. Incumbent McKinley Price faced city councilman Marcellus Harris, Dominique Green and Santiel J. Creekmore

The Chesapeake mayor's race had two candidates. Mayor Rick West was appointed after Alan Krasnoff became circuit court clerk. West will face Joanne Gallant for the job.
