Marty Wilford is still living the dream. He finally got the call from the NHL as the Anaheim Ducks have named him as assistant coach at the big league level.
Wilford is a Norfolk Admirals Hall of Famer. He had two stints here as a player as part of his 539 games played as a defenseman in the AHL.
He started his coaching career in the Ducks minor league system 7 years ago. The coaching career included a return visit to Norfolk when the Admirals were an Anaheim affiliate.
The last 3 seasons, Wilford has been an assistant with the Ducks AHL team in San Diego. He has always taken care of the defensive side of the game and is now very familiar with the young defenseman in the Ducks system.
