Our Athlete of the Week is hoping to build off of a stellar indoor track season. Deep Creek's Maya Perkins won state championships in the 55 and 300 meters and was part of the Hornets first place 4 x 400 relay team. Deep Creek went on to win the indoor state title for Class 4.
Regionals for the outdoor season are this weekend with states just around the corner.
Maya is planning to run all the sprints with an emphasis on the 400 meters.
She gets all A's and B's in school and next year will be on a track scholarship at Hampton University.
