Brawl breaks out between Redskins/Jets joint practice

RICHMOND, Va. — A couple fights broke out between the Redskins and Jets during the second half of Sunday’s joint practice session. Running back Chris Thompson was hit well out of bounds, as was right tackle Morgan Moses, who was slow to get up. Then a brawl ensued between Redskins offensive players, including left tackle Trent Williams, and Jets defensive back Trumaine Johnson. Eventually, the fight was broken up, but another involving Moses began after the next play. Redskins coach Jay Gruden and Williams ushered Moses off the field, talking to him to calm him down.

A fight between Redskins fans and Jets fans broke out shortly after. Practice resumed with a few scuffles taking place after various plays. Williams said there was “a cheap shot and we reacted how we reacted. It’s going to happen because there’s no repercussions out here. But we’re grown ... we move on. ... it’s football. A lot of grown-man testosterone in the air. ... it is what it is.” Said Johnson, “Just a friendly competition. Just friendly competition. We’ll be back tomorrow." The Redskins host the Jets in Thursday night's preseason game.
