Despite Marrow's 33 points, Pirates fall to High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. — An 18-4 run to close the first half proved to be too much to overcome as Hampton falls to High Point on Saturday night 85-69. Hampton opened the game hitting four three pointers in its first five field goals as Jermaine Marrow scored 19 points in the opening half.  The Panthers caught fire closing the half on the 18-4 run to lead 52-34 on a Jahaad Proctor jumper. High Point blistered the nets hitting 22-of-36 for 61.1% in the first half.

The lead grew to 23 points in the second half with 14 minutes left but Hampton trimmed it to 12 on a Marrow 3-point play with 1:19 left. Marrow was the leading scorer with 33 points and was joined in double figures by Kalin Fisher with 13.  Hampton cooled the Panthers in the second holding them to 37% from the floor in the second half.
