ECHL announces league alignments

NORFOLK, VA. – The ECHL announced the league’s new divisional alignment for the 2017-18 season on Thursday, following the conclusion of the annual Board of Governors Meetings. For the second consecutive year the Admirals will compete in the South Division, within the Eastern Conference.

Joining the Admirals in the South are the Atlanta Gladiators, Florida Everblades, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Jacksonville IceMen, Orlando Solar Bears and the South Carolina Stingrays. The only variations directly impacting the division as opposed to the 2016-17 version are that the Cincinnati Cyclones have joined the Central Division in the Western Conference and the new Jacksonville Icemen will officially be members of the South.

The Admirals will face every team in the Eastern Conference over the course of the 2017-18 regular season, except the expansion Worcester Railers. Out of the West, the Admirals will see the Colorado Eagles, Idaho Steelheads, Kalamazoo Wings and Utah Grizzlies. The Admirals will kick off their 2017-18 campaign in October, with the home opener coming on Friday the 27th against the South Carolina Stingrays.
