VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Tabernacle Baptist Academy's Gordon Cook has a passion for coaching and loves to teach. Cook says he uses the basketball court as another classroom, "to teach teamwork, discipline, self control and basically how I can develop these young men into being productive men in society."

Cook has over 800 wins in his coaching career. The last 45 years, he's been the big whistle for the Tabernacle Baptist Patriots. He has helped them earn a collection of 9 state championship banners in boys basketball.

After a total of 48 years of coaching, Cook is set to retire to spend more time with his family, especially his 3 grandkids. He'll always have his moments as a coach to cherish. Probably most importantly he says, "What I've enjoyed most is working with the kids, being able to pump my life into them for 48 years."
