HAMPTON, Va. — When it comes to the region finals, there's a little less pressure. Win or lose, you're still in the state playoffs, but there's still the matter of pride in being tops in the area. Wednesday night was the case in the Class 5 Region A Finals as Hickory jumped out to early lead and never looked back winning 8-0 over Menchville at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.
Three pitchers combined on a shutout as the Hawks improved to 22-1 on the season. Both schools move on to the state playoffs.
