CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Virginia Tech wasn't even on the announced list of the final eight schools. Cam Kelly still hasn't made an official visit to Blacksburg. There is time for all that now that he's announced he is going to be a Hokie.

Kelly, an Oscar Smith Tiger, is one of the top 5 football recruits in the state of Virginia class of 2019. While he is used in multiple positions on offense, his first love is the defensive secondary.

Tech has told him that they want him to be a defensive back, whereas many other schools wanted him at safety. So, he gets to play the position he loves and he is not far from home.

About the day Cam said, "Going into this day I know I was going to shock the world with this one. They weren't in my top 8, but I always knew there was a spot for them in my heart."
