Lakeland girls bring home region crown

Kemonye Canady led the way with 18 points as the Cavaliers won over Booker T. Washington 52-39 for their first region title on Tuesday night.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Lakeland girls basketball wouldn't let an 8 point first deficit stop them from their ultimate goal. They would storm past Booker T. Washington 52-39 for their first ever Class 3 Region A championship in the program's history.

Kemonye Canady led the way with 18 points for the Cavaliers who went on a 18-3 third quarter run to cruise past the Bookers. With both schools advancing to the state quarterfinals, Lakeland will take on Brentsville District while Booker T. Washington faces George Mason. Both games will take place on Friday.
