Maury rallies late to beat Churchland; stays perfect

NORFOLK, Va.- It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough for the Commodores to remain perfect. Maury guard, Bryan Phillips knocked down two free throws with 2.3 seconds left in regulation as the Commodores completed a 7 point come from behind win at home over Churchland Thursday night 60-58.

The Truckers jumped out to an early lead care of Anthony Davis who scored Churchland's first eight points of the game. He toppped them with 18. Maury closed out the half strong as Chase Coleman (9 points) coverted on a three pointer as they jumped back in front 31-26 by halftime.

Churchland proceeded to surge back into the lead by the third period. Zytariah Quick chipped in with 10 points for the game including a corner three that gave them a 47-42 advantage. The Commodores got a big lift from their big man, Clarence Rupert who led them with 17 points. It included a bucket inside with 1:22 left in the game to deadlock it at 58-58. Phillips then got fouled and finished the game up with a pair of free throws from the line for the final outcome. Maury remains unbeaten at 6-0.
