NORFOLK, Va. — It wasn't just lip service. When Nikki McCray took the ODU head coaching job last year, she talked about a return to national prominence. Her Monarchs have already doubled down on the win total from last season.

ODU stands at (16-6) overall and (7-3) in C-USA, good enough for fourth place in the league standings.

The Monarchs put one of the youngest teams in the country on the court. There are 6 freshman on this  year's squad. No matter the age, coach says this team is thinking big, "I have a fearless group. They're young. They don't know any better other than to just come in and give 110% every single day."

Besides the freshman, ODU has turned to a junior, Taylor Edwards to guide the team in the right direction. She has shown great improvement at point guard.

Sophomore Victoria Morris has also stepped up her game and leads the team in scoring with an average of 13 points per game.

ODU plays host to two of the top teams in the conference next. UAB comes to the Constant Center Thursday night and they Middle Tennessee is in town on Saturday.
