Despite changes, NSU still grabs top spot in MEAC

The Spartans are in first place in the conference with a 4-0 record.

NORFOLK, Va. — With all the changes in the off season, the Norfolk State men's basketball team hasn't missed a beat since conference play started in the MEAC. The Spartans are unbeaten at 4-0 this season and has a big showdown on Saturday against South Carolina State who's tied for 2nd.

NSU players aren't surprised they're in first. "No. Not at all", says guard, Jermaine Bishop. "We worked hard all summer. We knew what the goal was and we still know what the goal is and that's a MEAC championship".

Spartan head coach, Robert Jones felt, "I'm more pleased because we lost so much from last year, so to be in the position that we're in right now is a blessing." The game with the Bulldogs is the second of three home games for the Spartans. On Monday they'll finish up when they take on Florida A&M.
