NORFOLK, Va. — Jalyn Holmes figured there was no other place he could have his first ever football than where it all started at Lake Taylor High School. The Vikings defensive tackle hosting a free camp for over 200 children ages 11-17 on Saturday. Holmes vividly remembers what it was like to be in their shoes, so he tried to make sure they understood the journeys they will go through life. "It is a long road", he said. "There will be some failures in that long road. All the failures in my career have set me up for everything I have right now".
The 23 year old enters his 2nd season with the Vikings and is making the adjustment from his time as a defensive end in college at Ohio State to tackle as a pro. He's also tackling a bigger job off the field as a new father with his 4 month old son, Jalyn, Jr., "He's the greatest thing to happen to me", he said. "It keeps things in a whole different perspective."
