VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Police Department said a woman was killed in a crash on South Independence Boulevard Wednesday night.
The crash happened a little before 8:30 p.m. near Mount Trashmore. It kept the road closed for about two hours.
A spokesperson for the police department said the woman, 41-year-old Dawn McClaren, was a pedestrian. Police said McClaren was with her 11-year-old son and dog at the time of the incident.
They didn't say what led up to the crash.
The driver that police say hit McClaren stayed at the scene after the crash, and cooperated with investigators. There aren't any charges against the driver.
