A cold front will push through this evening, bringing showers and thunderstorms to southern parts of Hampton Roads. Then we will see a beautiful pair of days to wrap up the work week.
The front will clear the region by midnight and winds will shift to the north. That change in wind direction means a break from the tropical humidity! Thursday will be a very nice day, with cooler temperatures and lower humidity under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures and humidity will climb just a little bit on Friday
The Memorial Day weekend will start off fairly nice, but will likely end on a wet note. It will be partly sunny on Saturday and Sunday with an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 80s. By Memorial Day, there will be a good chance of showers.
In the tropics, a broad area of low pressure over the Yucatán Peninsula will slowly ride north through the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, before coming ashore in the Deep South. The National Hurricane Center has given this system a 60% chance of organizing into a tropical or subtropical system over the next 5 days. Even if the storm doesn't strengthen, it will bring quite a bit of rain to the Gulf Coast, and, eventually, the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
