FORECAST: More sunshine and warm again Thursday

Look for a cooldown into the weekend.

NORFOLK, Va. — Get ready for another warm day. Not only warm, but mostly sunny for most of the region! We started Thursday morning with a few sprinkles around the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Those have worked east, and northeast North Carolina will enjoy more sunshine for much of the day as well.

Thursday will feature much more sunshine. Highs will rise to the upper 70s and lower 80s.

A cold front arrives late Thursday and brings with it a push of cooler air for Friday and into the weekend.

Isolated showers are possible late Friday, too. It appears that the risk of stronger thunderstorms will remain well southwest of our area.

The weekend looks to bring a slightly greater chance of a few showers, and also cooler. Right now it looks like we could see a few showers early Saturday and again late Sunday. Most of the weekend should be partly sunny.

Weekend Preview

The cooler conditions this weekend will continue into early next week as highs only make it into the lower 60s, close to 10° below normal. The cool down won't last too long, models point to another warming trend beginning by the middle of next week.

Allergy Report

Pollen levels will be high Thursday with oak, maple, and alder trees as the predominant allergens. Pollen levels are forecast to remain high for the next few days.
