Good morning, it is Monday, Memorial Day, May 27th.
After a very toasty Sunday with Norfolk International Airport recording their 3rd 90° day of the month we will be in for a slightly cooler Memorial Day.
A weak cold front is in the process of dropping in from the northwest, this will change up our wind direction and drive a cooler day for coastal communities, around 80° while inland locations will see highs climb into the middle to upper 80s.
We also run the risk of a few isolated showers which are very welcome considering our deficit since March 1st has surpassed 2". Otherwise, skies will remain partly cloudy to partly sunny.
That same front lifts back north as a warm front tonight, as it passes there is the slightly increased chance at an isolated shower or storm in the overnight.
We turn on the heater tomorrow. Highs soar into the lower 90s under a southerly wind and mostly sunny skies. Even hotter into Wednesday with highs in the middle 90s. Heat index values pushing close to triple digits. It looks like our first true heat wave (3 days in a row of 90°+ highs) of 2019 will be achieved this week with highs forecast in the 90s right into Friday.
We continue with minimal rain chances outside of isolated afternoon showers or storms into the weekend with no organized widespread rainmakers in the foreseeable future.
